Warlord Drake Hammerfist-
Hi guy (and girls most likely girls too) first post how exciting! Hope you all like it.
Force on force is a game by ambush alley games and osprey publishing (who make amazing books for all areas of history you should definitely check them out) that's all about modern warfare it's designed for any conflict between 1945 till present day, I've been playing it for a good few years now doing mainly Iraqi and Afghanistan and Vietnam but have also done Somalia with a "Black hawk down" inspired mission with the Grimsby gaming club and even a Napoleonic skirmish game that was pretty fun.
Anyway enough of my rambling the game is very fast paced fun to play and fairly "easy" after you've figured out how it all works and as long as you don't make the game "too" big I've found if you have more than one or two units each when playing a game with multiple people it can get a bit bogged down and confusing with over watch and reactions (ill get back to that in a little bit)
The way the game works is different kinds of troops use different kinds of dice, for example a Taliban insurgent would use a d6 where as a regular British army soldier would use a d8, British paras use D10 and someone from the S.A.S would have a d12 basically signifying how good they are, the game has no weapon range as such it just has the troops optimum range which will just give them a extra dice if there within it, this can cause some arguments when someone wants to shoot up a 12ft table with a smg but it's just a question of common sense. The fog of war cards can throw some mager twists and turns into the game that give it that bit more realism and drama. Plus with overwach which is basically troops reacting to other troops when being shot at and such which changes up the turns from a I go you go sliyle of game that can get quiteboaring iI find.
All in all I think it is a fantastic game for anyone looking at doing modern skirmish games very fast very fun definitely a 10 out of 10 for me.
