imperial kight gallant review

hello peoples nareik bitteraxe finally posting again with a special treat for you all a review of well just read the title haha so anyway lets begin shall we.

the knight is a stunning model and really fun to paint, its a bit of a ball ache to build however but that's a given with many a large model.
it is also remarkably easy to transport but I would recommend magnetising its base with this goal in mind.

the fluff for the knights is incredibly rich but with a lot of room for adding your own
I had a lot of fun with mine dreaming up the history, of the noble hero locked in epic struggles, to atone for past sins that will haunt them for the rest of there days.
there are three choices when creating you knights back story
a imperial-aligned  houses, mechanicus-aligned houses, and my personal favourite the freeblades
the codex goes into more detail on the heraldic practises of the two types of noble house.
The freeblades are a different animal all together having left there house for varying reasons the freeblade will redecorate his titan to reflect him self better (basically do what you like) .

So gameplay the gallant (the variant I built) is a close combat daemon, more than capable of tearing apart (and hurling across the battlefield) many a tank or giant beast.
It suffers a little against regular infantry due to a small number of attacks and the inability for the strength D damage to spread through the unit.
And for the love of god avoid vanguard squads with melta bombs your knight will die from a molten butt crack.
But all in all it makes for a bloody fun game with many an epic or hilarious moment.
I would really recommend getting a knight (or five haha) there well worth the cost.

Stories of the shadow: death in the shadow ep two

-warlord Drake hammerfist

The next instalment of our short stories series.
generations after the war began and left the world in ruins the fractured remains of humankind continue the long war there ancestors started all reason and purpose forgotten as the brutal tribes savagely battle over the relics of the old world....

After a long time of staring Nick began to sit up, his rifle trained on her chest ready to take the shot if needed, Nick was amazed at her resolve she just stood there completely still not a sign of fear on her face even tho she was stood with nothing but a tattered brown top on.
As Nick walked closer he  pulled down the skull bandana he wore to cover his mouth and noise, as he did the woman bent down and picked up one of the rifles that the one of the fireborn men had, it was an ugly looking weapon originally a assault rifle by the looks of it but the wooden stock has been scorched and a tube took into it that comes out just above the trigger and along the side of the barrel ending in a flame projector noise almost the complete opposite to nicks long rifle a long elegant rifle covers in wood with carvings all over wrapped in a brown cloth so it camouflages better,
she shouted in her thick flyboy (American) accent "one more step and I'll light you up like the 4th of July"
as she brought the barrel up to her shoulder. Nick stopped dead and lowered his barrel toward the ground and replied in his deep groof voice  "Well that's a nice thanks for stopping them from doing whatever they want with you, now let's just lower the rifle just a bit like mine, I'm not telling you to drop it just lower it just a little so we can talk"
she lowered it so it was pointed at his stomach "this is as low as it's going until you tell me who the hell you are cos I'm not in the mood for seeing death today but your stood right in front of me and I know if I shoot you you'll shoot me back and then we'll both be meeting the real death won't we"
Nick chuckled slightly "well I'm the only death you'll be seeing today cos I think we can sort this out you seem reasonable enough, I'm Nick I'm a ranger and I just saved your life that enough"
she lowered her weapon immediately and exclaimed "why the hell didn't you say that Nancy and I'm one of the heroines of the flyboys, these brutes kidnapped me three weeks ago when my plane went down on a patrol on the edges of shadow from and engine malfunction"
Nick slung his rifle over his shoulder and walked forward slowly "not complaining about how you look or anything like that but are you gonna put your pants back on or at least something so your not low on clothes down below?"
She looked down at herself seemingly only just realising she had no pants "oh yeah that might be a good idea, I don't suppose you have any spares because I lost mine when these pricks attacked me"
Nick shook his head "unfortunately no I don't I just have what I have on"
she smiled slightly "thought so you kinda have that sorta smell about you, well looks like you'll just have to deal with seeing this till we find some new clothes"
she said in a amused tone as she turned round and tapped her bear backside as she walked over to one of the bodies and started removing an assault vest he had on "this is mine the bastardised took it off me"
Nick wondered around the camp looking for anything of any use, as he looked up from a small box containing weapons and ammo Nancy was stood completely naked on the other side of the fire.

Stories of shadow: death in the shadows ep one

This is a new series we will be doing on a post apocalyptic world of shadow.
5 generations after the war began and left the world in ruins the fractured remains of humankind continue the long war there ancestors started all reason and purpose forgotten as the brutal tribes savagely battle over the relics of the old world....

And here is the first story for you all to enjoy, remember to tell us what you think so we can make the next even better so until next time have a good one and enjoy!

Nick awoke to the freezing howl of the wind roaring through the ruins the bitter chill biting at his fingers and face as he curled in a corner of what once was a church by the looks of the ruins.
He had been there for the last 3 hours in the freezing cold of the night, It must have been at leat twenty degrees below freezing minimum all nights in shadow were like that.
As the light began to emerge from the icy black of night the temperature began to clim to a point that Nick could start moving again without freezing , he stood and slung his long rifle over one shoulder and his small string tie bag over the other his deep brown and green cloak flapping in the wind exposing his light brown  combat pants and jacket.
As he began to walk his big leather army boots crunched in the gravely ruins "Another day of wondering the ruins of the old world in search for the answers or whatever the shit was that Drake goes on about" Nick thought to himself a slight smile on his face. After about four hours of walking and looking he stumbled across a small camp of fire-born, stood near a raging fire five dark skinned and muscular men all stood around a young woman with pale skin and deep brown hair.
She looked to be a pretty little thing under all the grime and filth, she seemed to be a slave or a captive of some kind her clothes were all torn and mangled exposing part of her breast and part of her back side.
All of a sudden she screamed a hair razing  cry for help as one of the men grabbed her from behind and ripped her trousers off and tossed them aside, before he could do anything else Nick drew his rifle and took two shots in quick succession muffled by the rags rapped around the barrel of the gun and all but silenced by the cries of the  woman so they didn't hear a thing and didn't know what hit them when two of them wheat  down the one holding the woman with a shot straight through his throat gargled and writhed as he hit the ground spraying blood everywhere  the man next to him got a shot the eye and dropped to the ground instantly, before the others could draw there weapons another was down perfect shot through the chest.
The woman had grabbed a knife off the corpse of one of her captives and stabbed another in the neck covering herself in thick read blood, just as Nick shot the last.
The woman stood in the middle of the camp looking all around for her saviour but Nick was a good sixty meters away lay completely still in the rubble she had no way if spotting him or so he thought she looked him dead in the eye even at this distance it was obvious that she could see him perfectly clear....

How i base my minis/basing tutorial

-warlord Drake Hammerfist

Hello people's! I return with something completely new a tutorial on how I base my minis its a bit late for the Sunday night post because I've spent the day basing the 90 minis I've done with this technique so let's get straight into it shall we.

First of all the minis I will be showing you are fairly old GW imperial guard not sure on the date but I found them in a box a few weeks ago and decided I'd paint them up for display anywho thay will have there own special reviews on to the bashing.

First I put sand on the base as you can see on the right hand side, I use a play sand rather than the expensive hobby stuff that's all fine and nice cos I quite like a rough uneven effect.

Second step I use a dark colour as a base colour (in this case it is the GW rhinox hide base paint) I cover the base in this including the rim and wait for it to dry fully before going onto the next step.

Step three I start dry brushing the base it is best to do this with a batch I find with some good music in the background to work to, you start with a slightly lighter paint than your base (for me it was GW mournfang brown base paint) and then when that has dried you do a slightly lighter one and then repeat this as many times as you want I find the more layers you do the better it will look even more so with sand or mud (I continued with GW steal legion drab base paint and then GW karak stone layer paint) and then you wait for it to dry fully again and onto the next step.

Step four the last step with paint it is the high lighting much like when painting it will make the textures pop that little bit more what I tend to do is just high light the areas that the sun would be hitting ie not directly under the model if nearing or between there legs if they are standing for this I use a much lighter colour and do a very very gentle dry brush (for these minis I used Vallejo game colour bonewhight) and then as you had probably guessed wait for it to fully dry again.

Final step at last almost done by now the models should look pretty much done and this step is kinda a optional part (well it's all optional to be honest) it's the little bits of decoration this will grately very on what minis you are basing but my ones are supposed to be in a desert/apocalyptic environment so I've chosen long grass and stones.
so for the grass I used a doormat that I have just for this very purpose, basically you get one of the small clumps and snip it off with some sharp scissors but be carful not to nip your fingers (I've done it far to many times and it hurts more than it should) and when you have your little clump you just dip it in some pva glue and then put it onto the base and position it how you want it and hols it there a few seconds then vwala you have some grass it tends to take around 24 hours to fully dry so I'd put them on the side stood up and go onto the next mini.
As for the stones it is much easer you just get some small stones/gravel that look like they will fit in well and simply stick some glue to it (I recommend superglue for stones) and then stick it where you want it and you are done.
This Technique can be used to stick almost anything to your bases.

So there is the way that I base my minis I'd love to hear some feedback on how you all base your minis maybe I'll get some inspiration from you lot and make it better you never know, anyway I hope you all enjoyed this look into basing and it helped you out so until next time have a good day and I look forward to seeing you all again.

Conversion corner: Mara prophetess of nagash

Mara watched with growing frustration as the remaining non-believers barrelled in to the skeleton horde before her there barbaric chieftain screaming praise to there heretic god.
'Why must these fools resist the call of nagash' she sighed and with a casual flick of her wrist retuned the dead to life. Suddenly surrounded the heretic force were quickly buried beneath the blades of there former comrades.

Mara self proclaimed prophetess of nagash, the mad queen, the ghoul mother, she has acquired many names through out the realms. while she waged her grand crusade to spread the worship of nagash to there furthest corners. She will never rest until all bow to him in life or in death.

hello peoples an unusual one today something that I will be calling the conversion corner where I'll be showing of one of my conversions. Also I'll be delving into the background for my models, as you can see above, something I hope to do with all my future articles. so lets begin
Mara is a vampire lady on nightmare and leader of my undead horde in age of sigmar. The whole model is built from models from games workshop's vampire count range
I constructed Mara hear using two models her nightmare Adrastos is from the empire general. and Mara herself is just one of the handmaidens from the vampire coven set
the ethereal tail I maid with a leftover smoking skull from the mortis engine the other   half of the vampire coven set
I'm quite pleased with the pose Mara sitting side-saddle throwing dark magic's at her foes.
as Adrastos rears back ready to leap over the gravestone before him
Mara's sword Ashmaker sits in its sheath leaving Mara with both hands free for her magic. that and I didn't want to replace her arm haha
the 'unicorn' blade is just a spear tip from the skeleton set.

well I hope you enjoyed todays post. I will try to keep up with them now. until next time
